SUMMER BALL

There’s nothing better than a summer ball to sweep the exam stress under the carpet and let your hair down. Events where occasion dress can be taken to the next level are my favourite. Wearing a dress that is comfortable and takes minimal effort to catch attention is perfect for a summer ball. Comfort is essential to thoroughly embrace the evening. After hours and hours of endlessly scrolling through every online store for an outfit that would fit this criteria I discovered this white scuba ASOS dress. The scuba material is a stretchy material; the bodycon style hugged every curve perfectly. The angular, clean art deco style shape of the top half added a theatrical contrast against the plain bottom of the dress, contributing the fashion edge that I adore. The top of the dress has a trapunto technique forcing the splayed shape to stand rigid, adding to the chic and stylish aesthetic. The midi length is perfect for a formal event, while the middle front slit provided a sassy sharpness. I chose a gold statement earring to accessorise the outfit, the earrings have an eccentric, outlandish style with flamboyant patterns and tassels that compliment the stark colour of the dress. I wore my citrine stilettos and clutch; the citrine colour is unique and rare, something I look for in an outfit. The unusual choice of colour was noted by many at the event as a trendy, complimentary tone. For me an outfit isn’t completed for a special event without a statement red lip. I used the NYX matte lip cream in the shade Amsterdam. The red tone flattered my complexion and worked well against the neutral tones of my eye make-up, as well as providing long wear.
