MIDAXI STYLE

Mango is a dream site for statement Midaxi styles. The Midaxi combines Midi & Maxi length. The length is ideal for an occasion where midi is too informal and maxi is too formal. Being tall it is a great option.

Blue and white stripe is a favourite of mine in the warmer months; it screams Summer holiday. The statement oversized cuff, combined with the white tie-belt detailing creates the beautiful Mary Poppins esque style! I styled the dress with tan, crocodile print courts to complete the look.

PUFFBALL SKIRT

1 Puffball skirt, wedges and a white shirt. This half 80’s inspired style is a summer stand-out! Puffball skirts are so flattering. This Zara taupe voluminous skirt with paperbag-style waist and adjustable drawstrings is a key piece. Paired with the white Zara cut-out shirt, against neutral the summer style palette is aesthetic. The cropped style of the shirt compliments the mid waist height of the skirt. The white wedges add height, finishing off the look.

I FELL IN LOVE…HIS NAME IS NEW YORK! – PART 1

As a fashion student and aspiring blogger, it’s hard to believe that I had never visited the Big Apple before. Oh, how I have been missing out! I had visited America previously and adored the country. Visiting New York confirmed that I will definitely be exploring working there in my fashion career. New York is fashion obsessed, I’ve never been to a city where everyone is dressed sharply, especially on Fifth Avenue – Billionaire’s Row. Arriving in New York, the buildings, the people, the excitement is so very overwhelming – in the best way. I stayed in Pod 51 a hostel that exceeded my expectations, amidst the buzzing streets of New York, a short walk away from the iconic New York locations. Just walking through the streets in New York is like nowhere else I’ve been, the colossal buildings, quirky street signs and bustling people are persistently animated.

Day 1

The Outfit

In New York you have free reign to over-dress. I adore jumpsuits, they’re so simple, yet so striking. I wore this ASOS cream, denim jumpsuit with tie waist. The loose leg, combined with the belted waist is so figure flattering, while being comfy and warm for the New York avenues. Comfortable shoes are a MUST when visiting New York, you spend the entire day on foot. I averaged 20,000 steps daily. I was gifted the Converse boots at Christmas. They’re so unique, I was receiving compliments about them left-right-and-centre, one person even asked if they were Gucci boots! The exterior of the boot is striking; made from Gor-Tex material the boots have the word ‘Gor-Tex’ littered across the boot; they’re so perfect for city breaks as they’re waterproof too. They are beyond cosy with the fleece lining and a thick sole. Of course, I strutted the New York streets in my brown, faux-fur coat, highly-fashionable while confronting the cold weather. I used a cross-body Zara black bag the entire time; essential for city breaks.

The Experience

Walking down Fifth Avenue – Easy Street – was breath-taking, now that’s where I want to live! The buildings, the people, the designer shops; all beyond perfection. The first full day initiated with a visit to Gladson New York, located on Fifth Avenue; a fabric supplier for multiple luxury suiting brands. The intricacy of the process of developing each fabric swatch is shown in stunningly detailed samples. From pinstripe to check, navy to burgundy the fabrics styles created are vast. Learning about the importance of implementing these fabrics into female suiting also, felt empowering. Then, I ventured to the ferry where I saw amazing views of Manhattan Island and Brooklyn Bridge, even spotting the Statue of Liberty in the distance. New York is oh so picturesque, every view is scenic.

Getting off the ferry I arrived in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. This setting was very dissimilar to the bustling Fifth Avenue vibe. It was like a ghost-town. It had an eerie, distinctive impression, adding a feeling of culture to the trip. Graffiti wall-to-wall and Indie food joints littered the location. I dined with friends in a pub-style restaurant, eating a legendary grilled cheese sandwich – to-die-for. Strolling along the streets thrift shops invited me in; vintage Gucci and Louis Vuitton the prized possession of the second-hand shops. Searching through rails and rails of pre-owned clothing highlights how resale is booming in the contemporary fashion market. I yearned to know everything about the previous owner, clothing signifying untold stories. Williamsburg was a treasure trove, full of desirability. I spotted a stunningly decorated restaurant; all white with plantation and neon lights. It was called The Butcher’s Daughter. I ordered a latte. Asking whether they had any syrups the waitress said no, but recommended the mocha; the said mocha had magic mushroom powder in it… I then spied hemp milk and many other controversial additives. I opted for the plain latte hahaha! Williamsburg mirrors the hipster areas of London; like Shoreditch and Camden.

GO BROOKLYN NETS! I’ve always been a fan of basketball; being part of my high school team I appreciate the sport ;), as well as my fascination with the incredible height of the players. You can’t get more American than a basketball game. I went to see Brooklyn Nets play UItar Jazz. Spending $10 on a foam finger and almost $20 on nachos with cheese and a lemonade the size of my head was SO WORTH IT! The cheerleaders and street-dancers generated a VIBEEE, it was such an exhilarating experience. To anyone who visits New York I highly recommend seeing a game. Getting the subway back to the hotel was a struggle, but I made it! After a full-on day, collective with the jet lag I slept like a baby.

GOLDEN GIRL

Metallic is the Autumn must-have! Glossy clothing stands out amongst the Autumn dullness and transitions flawlessly into Winter too. These Zara gold trousers are so distinctive, perfect for someone who loves obscure styles…ME! The best thing about these outrageous trousers is they can be styled for evening or daytime. Here I’ve styled a daytime outfit; a simple black knit with gold button detailing, black velvet blazer and black sock boots – streamlined and sassy. This metallic style works best with plain block colouring, so the other clothing doesn’t distract from the statement trouser. For an evening look style with a black silk bralette or black bodysuit with tie ankle sandals. The trousers would also work with a warm knit and block trainers.

PUMKIN PATCH IN CREAM CORD

I find it so hard to dress for Autumnal days, it’s not quite cold enough for Winter coats, but it’s definitely too cold to leave the house without a jacket. It’s the time of year when you leave the house in the morning wrapped up, then by 12 you’re sweltering. My favourite solution is a blazer. Blazers add a masculine chic vibe to any outfit. I enjoy wearing cream in Autumn to contrast the drizzly, dull days, it’s also a great transitional colour from white which I wear to death in the Summer. This cream, cord blazer with horn buttons is the perfect throw-over item. I paired it with a cream mini-skirt and gold trainers, but it would look super cute over jeans and a plain top. Once I’d styled this outfit I thought the perfect location would be a pumpkin patch. Although cream is not quite appropriate for such a location the contrast of the cream looked insane against the field. The perfect outfit for a pumpkin date! 😉

LULU MAKES IT RAIN

I have never known it to rain SO MUCH. I absolutely hate rain, especially when I have to commute daily. Public transport is hurled into meltdown, outfits get ruined and everyone is pretty miserable. Not only is the rain rotten, the wind is hideous too, sending umbrellas into a frenzy. I decided the best solution would be to invest in a proper umbrella. I have been a fan of Lulu Guinness for many years now. I had always eyed-up their umbrella collection. The standout style for me was their ‘Diagonal Stripe Bloomsbury Umbrella’. The chic shade of red, contrasting with the monochrome stripe is perfect to pair with my Winter outfits; adding a pop of colour. The umbrella is outstanding quality and detailed to perfection; the clasp is finished with a red lips embellishment – so Lulu! The umbrella is also auto-opening with a simple press of the button, which is so convenient when you’re battling the weather with bags galore. I highly recommend purchasing one for the dreary days ahead, it gives you a reason to hope for rain ;)!

BAGGY JEAN VIBES

The 90’s are back! Big baggy jeans are the THING right now. Every fashion brand is releasing a pair of the trendy jean style. I absolutely love the relaxed aesthetic, making outfits look chilled and stylish. I bought this particular pair from Zara, in a dark wash; perfect for the transitional time from Autumn to Winter. I paired a man shirt from NEXT with the jeans, tying the shirt to create femininity and I unfolded the cuffs for a laidback look. I clinched in my waist with the Gucci belt, to contrast against the loose leg of the jean. I styled my western style, tan boots, to add height and a touch of chic! The look can easily be styled with dad trainers or heeled sandals, depending on the vibe you are feeling. The jeans would work well with crop woollen jumpers too, for a chillier day.

HELLO SAILOR!

I absolutely adore classy dressing. Long flowing trousers, blazers and neck scarfs make a killer combination. Late summery colours of cream, navy and red are so sailor chic and together look so sophisticated. These Mango cream flowing trousers are to die for! They are so comfortable and can be styled to suit day-time or evening dressing. The tie allows you to clinch in the waist. The H&M stiped boat neck thin jumper is the perfect print for the sailor look, tucked into the trousers. The tailored NEXT navy blazer with gold buttons and shoulder padding is so elegant and a strong staple. This neck scarf is from a Florence street-market and combines the different colour elements of the outfit, with a dash of sassy red. Neck scarfs are so Vogue, I totally love spicing up an outfit with this accessory. This photoshoot shot on the beautiful Norfolk coast at Holkam was the perfect setting for this refined sailor look.

FLIRTY FRILLS

I have had this BEAUTIFUL dress in my wardrobe for over a year now…I purchased it in the Zara sale with the purpose of wearing it straight away HOWEVER, the weather was never quite appropriate. The 2019 heatwave has thrown me completely; I own SO MANY clothes, but I can’t seem to find anything right for the extreme heat. IG  came across this older piece and knew it was perfect. Midi dresses are so en Vogue and in this nude colouring, with ruched sleeves and waist tie the dress is absolutely stunning and so apt for a warm day. The flowing skirt and off the shoulder style allow you to stay cool while looking super stylish. The dress is so extravagant in itself that accessorizing has to be low-key. The ASOS padlock necklace and leather sandals work impeccably, while the frilly bucket bag adds a flirty touch to the look.

CAMEL BLAZER

This outfit is perfect for fresher summer days. The combination of neutral tones is so classy. Camel blazers are storming the streets; every fashionista is buying one. Camel is so effective; it can be worn in any season. In the summer camel paired with white and denim is flawless, while in autumn and winter it is perfect paired with black. The ASOS linen, camel blazer has an oversized fit; worn baggy or synched in with a belt the blazer is so stylish. Cow print is a must for this season and going into AW19; this NEXT Cow-Hide leather bag is super cute and fits the neutral vibe.  You can never go wrong with a shirt-dress; so simple yet trés chic. This particular H&M shirt dress has side slits and extended cuffs with ties, perfect to peep out from the blazer cuff. I styled the look with the ASOS padlock necklace – so on trend, ASOS gold crackled trainers and a tan Gucci belt. I also featured a Zara Gatsby-esc heavily embellished headband – I totally love it. Cool camel is simply so timeless.
