GREEN RUFFLE DRESS

This Zara green poplin dress is a dream. The extravagant ruffle neckline and loose fit combine to make an elegant and timeless piece. The exaggerated design is incredible; an impeccable style for when you want to impress and demand attention. The popping green is a distinct shade; daring and bold. The short length, puff sleeve and loose fit contrast against the amplified ruffle detail. The stylish look screams for an understated hairstyle; I chose a tight poker bun. I added statement diamante branch earrings and off-white Primark sandals to finish the look. Zara is the greatest.

EN POINTE

In celebration of one of my first ever blog posts back in 2016, I’ve decided to re-style the shirt dress and grey jumper combo, for a fresher summer feel. I remember taking the photos for ‘University Visits’ in Brighton, while looking at Brighton university. That feels like a lifetime ago as I’m sitting here writing my Dissertation at the end of my journey at University of Southampton. While writing this blog post I had a sudden prang of nostalgia as I recalled that post. It’s funny how much we progress, but barely take time to reflect on how far we’ve come. Maybe its lockdown allowing me to do so!

Anyway, getting back to the fashion…Shirt dresses are timeless, they’re always in fashion…Hence why I’m still wearing them. The beauty of them is they can be dressed up or styled casually. The way I styled the shirt dress this time can only be described as ‘darling’. The charming combination of the wrap over white shirt dress with waist bow tie, the Zara square neckline, puff sleeve and crop-length grey knitted jumper and the pink ballet slippers with ankle tie screams spring 2020. The pink satin ballet slipper look takes me back to pointe classes growing up. The contrast of the square neckline with the shirt dress collar adds an edge to the precious style. On a warmer day the jumper can be subtracted, leaving just the shirt dress, which demands attention alone. This look is en pointe!

VICTORIAN FASHION WITH A MODERN TWIST!

Victorian fashion is timeless, you can’t go wrong with a classic monochrome style. I usually steer clear of black in the Summer months as I wear it permanently in the Winter, however this darling Zara Velvet miniskirt is ideal when paired with white. Yet again Zara is killing it with their shirt designs; the high-neck and wrist frill, along with the diamanté buttons and cropped fit fashion a contemporary twist on a classic design. The Topshop boots have decorative zips on the outer-side and the soft leather look is tasteful. Statement earrings are a must; these square Zara embellished earrings compliment the diamanté shirt buttons. Zara is my lockdown saviour.

FAUX-FUR FASHION

Drama! I absolutely love doing shoots in a professional studio. Everything just pops. Winter is upon us and…FINALLY I have found my Winter coat. This year I was waiting for SO LONG for a coat to stand out to me! This brown faux fur maxi coat from H&M was the one! Coats are my favourite fashion item; they add drama to any outfit, especially huge fur coats. This one has an oversized fit and has a flattering matching belt to draw in the waist. I’m wearing Zara cream baggy 80’s jeans, a cream, dotty, pussy-bow, sheer blouse with chunky black Zara boots and accessorised with the signature Gucci belt. I love layering in the winter, it looks so chic. I’m heading to New York in January, so this coat will be perfect for the chilly days.

GOLDEN GIRL

Metallic is the Autumn must-have! Glossy clothing stands out amongst the Autumn dullness and transitions flawlessly into Winter too. These Zara gold trousers are so distinctive, perfect for someone who loves obscure styles…ME! The best thing about these outrageous trousers is they can be styled for evening or daytime. Here I’ve styled a daytime outfit; a simple black knit with gold button detailing, black velvet blazer and black sock boots – streamlined and sassy. This metallic style works best with plain block colouring, so the other clothing doesn’t distract from the statement trouser. For an evening look style with a black silk bralette or black bodysuit with tie ankle sandals. The trousers would also work with a warm knit and block trainers.

90’S BAGGY JEANS

The 90’s are back! Big baggy jeans are the THING right now. Every fashion brand is releasing a pair of the trendy jean style. I absolutely loooove the relaxed aesthetic, making outfits look chilled and stylish. I bought this particular pair from Zara, in a dark wash; perfect for the transitional time from Autumn to Winter. I paired a man shirt from NEXT with the jeans, tying the shirt to create femininity and unfolded the cuffs for a laidback look. Thank the lord for my fashionista Mumma. This velvet blazer was owned by my mum in the 90s and it screams chic; I just had to steal it.  Go for a rummage through your parents wardrobe – you may be surprised at the treasures hidden there! I clinched in my waist with the Gucci belt, to contrast against the loose leg of the jean.  The look can easily be styled with tan boots or heeled sandals, depending on the vibe you are feeling. The jeans would work well with crop woollen jumpers too, for a chillier day.

MONOCHROME MADAME

Monochrome is unbeatable and timeless. A monochrome theme is effortlessly classy. I am such a fan of the masculine style; male clothing is often better tailored than womens and gives a sassy oversized look. Here I styled a Next men’s white shirt. The slick fit with a double, oversized cuff is perfect to pair with leather bottoms, adding cufflinks to continue the masculine theme. I have been searching for the perfect pair of leather trousers for so long. I wanted something different from the average tight-fitting pair. River Island released this paperbag style leather trouser early Autumn and they are perfect. Unlike the average pair of leather trousers these fit superbly and are effortlessly comfortable to wear for any occasion.

STRIKING STRIPES

Who doesn’t love a suit?! This one is perfect for in-between the spring and summer months. There is nothing smarter than a suit co-ord for a Spring/Summer evening out or holiday wear. This Primark suit has a tailored businesswoman style with a striking Ivory and deep Navy statement stripe. Paired with an H&M bralette and Primark stilettos the look becomes more fashion forward and youthful. The white lace bralette adds texture against the clean linen of the suit; creating contrasting fabrics, which is strong for this season. A classic white T and Sneakers would create a more casual edge. Bringing back the 60’s – the first era where pantsuits stormed female fashion, suits are still key and more relevant in current feminine fashion. Styling the hair with a relaxed beach-wave adds a refreshing uncomplicated look while a simple twisted topknot or low bun crafts a more sophisticated chic. This suit is perfectly seductive with a rebellious twist and a hint of nostalgia; all the requirements to kill it!

PLAYFUL PASTEL

Pastels are everywhere this S/S 2018. I’ve always loved pastel colours however, I wasn’t sure how to wear pastels and not looked washed out. The answer is BE BOLD. Bold isn’t quite what you’d associate with a pastel colour but this denim boiler suit in baby pink conforms to just that. Not only is it the most comfortable piece of clothing, it looks super stylish. The oversized baggy style of the boiler suit is bang on trend, while you can clinch in the waist with a statement belt. Pink and red is SUPER hot this season; once a fashion faux pas the colour combination is now storming the market and contributes a daring contrast to the outfit. I accessorised with my favourite red  baker boy hat; the bright pop of red is perfect to wear in any season and with any colour. It gives off vintage vibes and adds a cheeky style. Binging in red is my favourite current fashion statement. Spying fellow fashionistas at LFW in boilersuits shows how the style is going to storm the fashion world. Paired with these relaxed satin ballet pumps with ankle ties the look is styled down to a relaxed chic.
