HARVARD SWEATSHIRT

Class of 2021…with the trending ‘Harvard’ sweatshirt, the streets look littered with Harvard grads. I’ve always adored a preppy American style and fell instantly in love with the Zara Harvard popping red sweatshirt. My style is vast, but I usually pick a dressy style over relaxed. Now of course, with a sweatshirt I am instantly inclined to pair the piece with blue or white jeans or joggers. But…having come across a stunning look in Vogue where the stylist mixed smart & casual perfectly by mixing a sweatshirt and a midi skirt, I fell in love!

Using the Vogue look as inspiration, I fled to the Zara skirt section where I found this killer midi black skirt with gold button detailing and ultra sassy side split. Tucking in the Harvard sweatshirt I loved the look; the skirt clinched in at the waist perfectly and added a chic aesthetic. Finished with black courts the outfit works perfectly for a city lunch break.

DENIM MIDI-SKIRT

The rise of the denim midi-skirt. Being a tall girl, skirts and dresses can cause issues in the Spring/Summer months, but trending this year is the midi-skirt – the perfect solution to my long-leg issues! This ASOS midi denim skirt is a killer piece, the length, colour, material and tie-waist detailing combine to create the most figure flattering skirt on the market. Here I styled the skirt with both a simple ecru ribbed crop top and a tucked off-white sweat, finished with high-top trainers for a relaxed look. The skirt could be dressed up too – a tulle or silk crop top with heeled sandals would create a fab dressy option. Stylish, chic & simple.

FAUX LEATHER GREEN TROUSERS

The biggest trend for summer 2021 – crop tops and blazers…the ultimate going out look! As lockdown eases and we can be reunited with our friends (outdoors at first) a jacket is a MUST! A chic blazer is an essential piece that you need to have in your wardrobe. The Mango green faux leather trousers fit like a glove, they fit tightly to the waist and loosely to the leg. The cream and sage green tones are perfect for Spring. I accessorised with a gold chain belt and oversized gold square earrings to spice up the aesthetic. Here I styled the look with my cream chunky Mango boots for a relaxed vibe, but heeled sandals or mules would look fab too!

THE CUTEST BUCKET HAT

This cream faux-fur jacket and cream ASOS faux-fur bucket hat are a dream match. The H&M cream jacket is incredibly thick, and the cropped arm length is super cute. The jacket has no collar, which is a unique style feature, I normally dislike no collar on a coat/jacket, but here it works. The jacket is only £34.99; however, it looks and feels much more luxurious. The concealed hook and eye fastening is an elegant feature. The ASOS bucket hat is so darling, I love the current bucket hat trend! Paired together the jacket and hat combo calls for a chilly winter day; which is a daily occurrence in the UK. I wore dotty tights, a velvet mini-skirt and thigh-high leather boots with the faux-fur pieces. I finalised the look with a genuine Burberry silk scarf; the beige and black tones tied the whole look together. A faux-fur moment!

ONE HUNDRED STARS GOWN

I’ve always dreamed of owning a delectable gown that I could pair with Autumn knits or Spring pieces. While staycationing in Wells earlier this year I spied this incredibly distinctive One Hundred Stars printed duster coat in a small boutique. I’d never heard of the brand, however many celebrities including Nigella are fellow fans. This delicate ‘Iris Grey Gown’ is a piece from One Hundred Stars collaboration with KEW Royal Botanic Gardens. As described on the website ‘the Gown is made from a custom blend of modal and viscose which creates a silky-smooth lightweight material while having a more sustainable impact on the environment.’ Not only did I purchase the gown from a local store, promoting supporting small businesses, the piece itself has sustainable features; two reasons why I adore the piece even more. It was an investment piece at £75; I think it is essential to build up a wardrobe of pieces that you will keep for life. A stunningly timeless piece with unique dusty pink, green and slate grey colouring. The elegant hang and silky feel of the material is everything you would desire in a designer piece. The block colour slate grey waist belt and collar brings the colours together effectively. Here I styled the gown over a Zara cream midi knit skirt, beige top, with my signature Mango fashion wellies. I cinched in the waist with my tan leather Zara belt for a more everyday look. I am totally in love with this design.

IT’S A CO-ORD KIND OF SPRING

Although we are still in lockdown and comfort is king, I can’t help but style outfits for when the lockdown is eventually lifted. It provides a glimmer of escapism in my day, doing something I love. After being told we must continue lockdown for 3 more weeks – at least – it was the news we were all expecting, but a quiet wave of sadness hit. It’s difficult to stay positive when we are unsure when life will go back to ‘normal’ or if in fact it ever will! But, we must rally together, connecting online and embrace the fact you may be living with and re-connecting family that you haven’t lived with for 10 years. I feel strongly for those who have lost family members and friends and salute those who have lost lives while treating and caring for Covid-19 positive patients. For us sat at home we must stay positive and make the best out of this dystopian reality. Here’s a snippet of what I do to stay optimistic; styling.

Co-ords are perfect for Spring/Summer. The lace-up skirt detailing, shirt style crop top and cut-out design caught my eye. The off-white colouring and long sleeve style of this ASOS co-ord is ideal for the transitional months between Spring and Summer. Generally co-ords are fashioned from light, cotton materials however, this co-ord is denim, making the fabric rigid and the visual edgy. I love taking a trend and putting my own spin on it. Two pieces have ruled the warmer months for years, this set has fashionable twists that I adore; the cut-out design with button neck fastening and collar adds an original flair to the two-piece top. The lace-up style of the skirt adds décor and an alternative aesthetic.

I paired the look with off-white lace up sandals for a dressy vibe, mirroring the lace up skirt style. To add a contrast colour, I chose my popping red Topshop shoulder saddle bag that I bought last year. In lockdown, try styling some looks from your wardrobe for a sprinkle of excitement.

STRIPES…BUT ADD DRAMA!

This ASOS design shows how you spice up a plain striped shirt. The EXTRA voluminous sleeve is so my style, I adore anything unique. Blue/white stripe pattern is made for the Summer months, paired with blue denim or white, the pattern is eternally chic. As the shirt is so covered it calls for a skirt or shorts. Here I paired the shirt with white tailored shorts, tan Gucci belt and white wedges. I recommend tucking or tying the shirt to add a casual vibe.

WHITE SHIRT-DRESS

Zara is my go-to for Summer staples, they always release the sharpest looks, tempting enough to ensure your bank account will be lighter. Their loyalty to pastels and whites is perfect for my wardrobe; I try to wear only light, bright colours in the Spring/Summer, my ode to celebrating the few bright sunny days we get. Shirt dresses are timeless, they can also be styled for every occasion. This Zara shirt dress fits like a glove. The style is unique, a slight tennis vibe – how British! The pleats add texture, while the deep V neck is elegant and vivacious. The flirty length wrap over skirt and long puff sleeves are attractive details. The crisp white of the dress is a stand out SS/20 piece, perfect to adorn with tan accessories. I used my Mumma’s vintage tan sandals and matching tan suede bag, decorated with eyelets. I idolise my Mumma’s fashion and love re-wearing her staple pieces. The sandals are so on trend and white with tan in the summer is always a hit. I finished the outfit with square crystal statement earrings. Hello Spring!

FAUX-FUR FASHION

Drama! I absolutely love doing shoots in a professional studio. Everything just pops. Winter is upon us and…FINALLY I have found my Winter coat. This year I was waiting for SO LONG for a coat to stand out to me! This brown faux fur maxi coat from H&M was the one! Coats are my favourite fashion item; they add drama to any outfit, especially huge fur coats. This one has an oversized fit and has a flattering matching belt to draw in the waist. I’m wearing Zara cream baggy 80’s jeans, a cream, dotty, pussy-bow, sheer blouse with chunky black Zara boots and accessorised with the signature Gucci belt. I love layering in the winter, it looks so chic. I’m heading to New York in January, so this coat will be perfect for the chilly days.
