GREEN + WHITE = SUMMER DREAM

Green and white is an absolute all-time favourite of mine. Having green eyes, when I wear green it accentuates the colour, especially in the summer. Satin midi skirts are a killer item to have in your wardrobe, this sage colouring is perfect to couple with lighter colours. I paired the skirt with an ASOS white bandeau with a darling sage polka-dot pattern. The mix of a satin skirt with a pretty top creates casual outfit, ideal for a beach trip or a spot of shopping. I styled my H&M white cotton sliders with bow detail with the flattering skirt and top combo. I absolutely adore straw hats, especially this ASOS bow-tie style. The oversized size and bow detailing finish the dreamy look.

VICTORIAN FASHION WITH A MODERN TWIST!

Victorian fashion is timeless, you can’t go wrong with a classic monochrome style. I usually steer clear of black in the Summer months as I wear it permanently in the Winter, however this darling Zara Velvet miniskirt is ideal when paired with white. Yet again Zara is killing it with their shirt designs; the high-neck and wrist frill, along with the diamanté buttons and cropped fit fashion a contemporary twist on a classic design. The Topshop boots have decorative zips on the outer-side and the soft leather look is tasteful. Statement earrings are a must; these square Zara embellished earrings compliment the diamanté shirt buttons. Zara is my lockdown saviour.

FACETIME DATE-NIGHT

While we all self-isolate that does not mean our social lives have to end! Facetime has been my saviour. Whether it’s a friend date or a flirty date, Facetime is the perfect platform to maintain a social life. The focal thing that I’m missing as a fashion focused female is getting dressed up. Slobbing around in comfies isn’t my natural style. However, dressing up does not have to stop…virtual date nights mean you can rock a killer outfit in the comfort of your own home.

I had this outfit planned out prior to lockdown, all sourced via ASOS (except the Gucci belt). The white organza/silk bralette top is perfect for drinks out. The organza dramatic sleeves, combined with the satin effect bodice is an impeccable contrast, while the frill is figure flattering. Here I styled the bralette with mom jeans; the perfect item to dress-down a look. Jeans paired with heels is a look I have adored for years; timeless yet chic. Sandals are the current footwear of choice; these nude mid-heels are the perfect height to walk comfortably and look super elegant. Bottega Veneta clutch bags have captured the market, such a simple design yet so fashionable. Many high-street retailers have made replica styles, including this ASOS white clutch. The clutch is a faultless design, the size and style of the bag makes an outfit. I finished the look with my signature Gucci belt. This weekend I look forward to my quarantine date-night…in style!

6. MADDISON’S BOOK OF THE MONTH

MY NAME IS ANNA

81Pn4Kux1eLBLURB

‘ANNA has been taught that virtue is the path to God. But on her eighteenth birthday she defies her Mamma’s rules and visits Florida’s biggest theme park.
She has never been allowed to go – so why, when she arrives, does everything seem so familiar? And is there a connection to the mysterious letter she receives on the same day?
ROSIE has grown up in the shadow of the missing sister she barely remembers, her family fractured by years of searching without leads. Now, on the fifteenth anniversary of her sister’s disappearance, the media circus resumes in full flow, and Rosie vows to uncover the truth.
But will she find the answer before it tears her family apart?’

I could not put this book down. I read it within a week which is unheard of for me! Whilst studying at university we are required to read massive amounts for our course, therefore I never sought relaxation via reading. However, when my Mumma recommended this book I could not put it down. The whole concept is absolutely genius. Buy it now to reduce your quarantine blues!

7. MADDISON’S SONG OF THE MONTH

WOMAN – JOHN LENNON

71i431fGxQL._SS500_

I have the most varied music taste of anyone I know. I listen to a range of artists from Dua Lipa, PARTYNEXTDOOR and Beyoncé to Elvis, WHAM and Elton John. I love both modern music and classic bangers! My favourite song this month is Woman by John Lennon. This song has an extremely sweet muse; Lennon wrote this song as an ode to his wife Yoko Ono. The relaxed vibes and adorable meaning create a beautiful tune. Have a listen!

8. MADDISON’S FILM OF THE MONTH

While we are all stuck indoors, why not pretend we are in the Greek Island? Although many tutt at Mumma Mia I absolutely adore the films, especially the second one! The songs, dances and visuals make me feel excited for the future when we can travel and roam freely again. The fashion in this film is stunning and as for Lily James…well she’s pure perfection! The ultimate feel-good film.

9. MADDISON’S ACTIVITY OF THE MONTH

FACETIME O’CLOCK

I love socialising with my friends and while sadly this isolation period has halted in-person gatherings, I have been catching up with my besties via Facetime! This weekend book a Facetime Date with your pals and pop open the fizz or pour a gin for a Facetime O’Clock! Why not dress up for the occasion?!

I FELL IN LOVE…HIS NAME IS NEW YORK! – PART 1

As a fashion student and aspiring blogger, it’s hard to believe that I had never visited the Big Apple before. Oh, how I have been missing out! I had visited America previously and adored the country. Visiting New York confirmed that I will definitely be exploring working there in my fashion career. New York is fashion obsessed, I’ve never been to a city where everyone is dressed sharply, especially on Fifth Avenue – Billionaire’s Row. Arriving in New York, the buildings, the people, the excitement is so very overwhelming – in the best way. I stayed in Pod 51 a hostel that exceeded my expectations, amidst the buzzing streets of New York, a short walk away from the iconic New York locations. Just walking through the streets in New York is like nowhere else I’ve been, the colossal buildings, quirky street signs and bustling people are persistently animated.

Day 1

The Outfit

In New York you have free reign to over-dress. I adore jumpsuits, they’re so simple, yet so striking. I wore this ASOS cream, denim jumpsuit with tie waist. The loose leg, combined with the belted waist is so figure flattering, while being comfy and warm for the New York avenues. Comfortable shoes are a MUST when visiting New York, you spend the entire day on foot. I averaged 20,000 steps daily. I was gifted the Converse boots at Christmas. They’re so unique, I was receiving compliments about them left-right-and-centre, one person even asked if they were Gucci boots! The exterior of the boot is striking; made from Gor-Tex material the boots have the word ‘Gor-Tex’ littered across the boot; they’re so perfect for city breaks as they’re waterproof too. They are beyond cosy with the fleece lining and a thick sole. Of course, I strutted the New York streets in my brown, faux-fur coat, highly-fashionable while confronting the cold weather. I used a cross-body Zara black bag the entire time; essential for city breaks.

The Experience

Walking down Fifth Avenue – Easy Street – was breath-taking, now that’s where I want to live! The buildings, the people, the designer shops; all beyond perfection. The first full day initiated with a visit to Gladson New York, located on Fifth Avenue; a fabric supplier for multiple luxury suiting brands. The intricacy of the process of developing each fabric swatch is shown in stunningly detailed samples. From pinstripe to check, navy to burgundy the fabrics styles created are vast. Learning about the importance of implementing these fabrics into female suiting also, felt empowering. Then, I ventured to the ferry where I saw amazing views of Manhattan Island and Brooklyn Bridge, even spotting the Statue of Liberty in the distance. New York is oh so picturesque, every view is scenic.

Getting off the ferry I arrived in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. This setting was very dissimilar to the bustling Fifth Avenue vibe. It was like a ghost-town. It had an eerie, distinctive impression, adding a feeling of culture to the trip. Graffiti wall-to-wall and Indie food joints littered the location. I dined with friends in a pub-style restaurant, eating a legendary grilled cheese sandwich – to-die-for. Strolling along the streets thrift shops invited me in; vintage Gucci and Louis Vuitton the prized possession of the second-hand shops. Searching through rails and rails of pre-owned clothing highlights how resale is booming in the contemporary fashion market. I yearned to know everything about the previous owner, clothing signifying untold stories. Williamsburg was a treasure trove, full of desirability. I spotted a stunningly decorated restaurant; all white with plantation and neon lights. It was called The Butcher’s Daughter. I ordered a latte. Asking whether they had any syrups the waitress said no, but recommended the mocha; the said mocha had magic mushroom powder in it… I then spied hemp milk and many other controversial additives. I opted for the plain latte hahaha! Williamsburg mirrors the hipster areas of London; like Shoreditch and Camden.

GO BROOKLYN NETS! I’ve always been a fan of basketball; being part of my high school team I appreciate the sport ;), as well as my fascination with the incredible height of the players. You can’t get more American than a basketball game. I went to see Brooklyn Nets play UItar Jazz. Spending $10 on a foam finger and almost $20 on nachos with cheese and a lemonade the size of my head was SO WORTH IT! The cheerleaders and street-dancers generated a VIBEEE, it was such an exhilarating experience. To anyone who visits New York I highly recommend seeing a game. Getting the subway back to the hotel was a struggle, but I made it! After a full-on day, collective with the jet lag I slept like a baby.

PUMKIN PATCH IN CREAM CORD

I find it so hard to dress for Autumnal days, it’s not quite cold enough for Winter coats, but it’s definitely too cold to leave the house without a jacket. It’s the time of year when you leave the house in the morning wrapped up, then by 12 you’re sweltering. My favourite solution is a blazer. Blazers add a masculine chic vibe to any outfit. I enjoy wearing cream in Autumn to contrast the drizzly, dull days, it’s also a great transitional colour from white which I wear to death in the Summer. This cream, cord blazer with horn buttons is the perfect throw-over item. I paired it with a cream mini-skirt and gold trainers, but it would look super cute over jeans and a plain top. Once I’d styled this outfit I thought the perfect location would be a pumpkin patch. Although cream is not quite appropriate for such a location the contrast of the cream looked insane against the field. The perfect outfit for a pumpkin date! 😉

VELVET VANITY

As far as I’m concerned once January is over Summer should be here…unfortunately the reality of British weather is far from this. I struggle along with many of you to decide on what to wear at this time of year, when the unruly weather ranges daily from mild to snowstorm. Quaint dresses with Victorian influences have always been a favourite of mine; they are timeless and there is always a place in fashion for them. This Zara black velvet dress with Victorian esque décor of white frill cuff and white bib embellished with diamond buttons is beyond cute. Paired with a low denier tight the outfit can be worn in all weather conditions; if there’s a chill then layer with a statement coat, if there is more mild weather then an oversized scarf. I wore black DM inspired boots to make the outfit suitable for street-style however, the dress pairs well with heels too. You can never go wrong with this darling style.

BARDOT BABE

This ASOS white bardot dress is a necessity for this Summer. The perfect length between mini and midi means the dress can be worn as a daytime or evening dress. Here I styled the look down with Zara sneakers with oversized laces; making the outfit suitable for daytime wear, with a fashionable twist. The balloon sleeves add excitement to the plain style of the centre panels. The shock heatwave in the UK so far this summer means dresses like these are on point and essential for your wardrobe! The dress is ideal for daytime adventures in the most instagrammable locations.

LADY IN LACE

White lace always brings a classic feminine edge to a summer outfit; pair it with vintage denim and you have the perfect combination. A lace top continues to fit the trend year upon year; this top has been adapted to suit S/S18 with the statement sleeve influence, adding style. The visible fully zipped back adds an urban twist. It can be styled for evening wear with flowing trousers or culottes. The long crop is the perfect length for the bright days ahead and you can’t fail with cool chic white this summer.

SPRING PJS

Pjs have a special place in my heart…it’s a shared opinion; people just love pjs! I am always tempted by a delicate, white pair; perfect for spring/summer months. Throughout the S/S months I am drawn to white clothing as it shows off a tan and is so pure. This flirty Missguided pj set is just perfect for summer slumber parties and holiday nightwear. The off-the-shoulder top is so comfy and doesn’t slip up like many off-the-shoulder items, while the baggy shorts with frilled edges are super sweet and the ribbed material adds more detail. If you want a fierce look and comfort then go get these. ALL HAIL PJS!
